Different Pathways to Come to Canada

There are several ways to come to Canada. A Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) grants a certain individual legal entry or remain in the country for a specified period of time.

Below are 3 main ways for you to come to Canada:

  1. Visit Canada

There are several reasons to visit Canada. One of them is to visit your family or relatives. Another reason is coming as a tourist. In order to visit Canada, you will need a Visa or an ETA depending on your country of citizenship.

  2. Study in Canada

Canada has many outstanding post-secondary colleges and universities. You can apply for study permit once you are accepted into a program and school of your own choosing. The duration of your study permit may vary depending on the program you have chosen. International students may have 1-3 years of post-graduation work permit and 20 hours of allowable time to work. There are also many successful pathways to permanent residency in Canada.

  3. Work in Canada

A foreign national may be eligible for open work permit or employer specific work permit. In most cases, a job offer or Canadian employer is needed to obtain a work permit. Working in Canada also provides an opportunity for permanent residency.
