Cohabitation agreement, also known as Domestic contract, is a written contract for non-married couples. This type of contract deals with the financial arrangements of both parties while living together, after living together, or if the other person dies.

Child and Spousal Support

When a cohabitation within and outside marriage ends, you may ask for financial assistance from the other spouse.

Child support is calculated based on federal or provincial Child Support Guidelines. The monthly support covers the basic needs of the child including but not limited to food and clothing. The child support payment is determined based on the gross annual income of the payor parent and the number of children.

Spousal support is paid by one spouse to the other after they separate or divorce. It is a complex issue due to the many factors surrounding how much support a spouse should receive. We, at AJ LAW LLP provide an appropriate approach to this matter.
